SANDRA
Transition Home House Mentor
My name is Sandra, I am a grateful believer in Jesus Christ and have been transformed by his grace. Seven years ago I was in a hard spot. I was seeking recovery and healing from the madness I had created in my life. I lived every day carrying heavy guilt and shame along with having bad habits. Just like the bible says, I couldn’t break those habits on my own, I needed help. A beautiful friend led me to Church. It was there that I broke down and spilled all my problems onto Jesus’ lap. He literally held my sorrow and pain that day and I felt his love like I had never before. I was forgiven and I felt free. I continued going to church and after three months I was baptized. I was led to do the MVDC Bridge Ministry with my two new mentors, Barbara and Sharon. These women took me under their wing and have shown me the blessings of giving back by feeding and praying for the homeless of our city. I continued to do Bridge Ministry for a year, and during that time I met many people in situations I could never imagine being in, and on the other hand I have seen so many lives transformed, just by giving a little love. Celebrate Recovery became a part of my life and I completed step studies and now I am an active leader in the group. During this time I saw a need and had a desire so I found that opportunity at Goodmarks llc in Lawrence. I moved in with the intention of being the house manager. Three months later I was in that role. I learned a lot about others and myself during this time. I continued on for another year and half in that position. I found my calling and then I found housing. I was able to nurture and encourage residents. I saw them become independent and continue on in their new recovered lives. I am looking forward to mentoring other women and sharing my life, my experiences, my hopes & dreams with them. I hope that they will see that there is no limit to what God can do in our lives if we just follow his guidance. Sandra’s transformation has been extraordinary, proving that one can achieve goals and beyond with proper support and unwavering determination. She has inspired many by showing that no obstacle is too great to overcome. Thank you for reading Sandra’s bio. We believe that Sandra will be a valuable asset to our transition program, selflessly extending her experience to the women who struggle with hurts, habits and hang-up’s. |
